I’ve always believed that the bleeder should be on the top of the caliper, swapped my left rear caliper (2000 Mustang) and the bleeder is on the bottom. Having great difficulty bleeding this side, is this correct?

Bleeders in fact MUST be at the top.

Not sure if this is a proper fix for your issue, but Wilwood does say that if your mounting location is horizontal, ie no bleeder at the top, to take the caliper off and bleed it then while holding it in a way so that the bleeder is at the top.

I think I’ll have to go that path as every caliper set I’ve looked at for the brakes I’m running show the drivers side with bleeder on the bottom. Might be that FFR has the caliper in from of rotor and OE Mustangs are mounted on the rear side of rotor…I’ll give the bleeding prior to mount a try, thanks!

You sure you don't have two right side units?

since the calipers are on the front side instead of the rear, you need to swap left and right calipers to get the bleeder on top. so if you're trying to get a new right caliper, you need to order a left caliper in order to get the bleeder in the correct orientation.

This is your answer. When relocating calipers to the forward position everything (calipers, mounts, anti moan brackets) has to swap sides left to right, right to left.

Jeff is right. Been there, done it. Without getting the bleeder on the top it is nearly impossible to get all the air out. Only way I have done it is to have the caliper off the axle holding the bleed valve in a top orientation, bleed the caliper and then bolt it on. Swapping all the correct parts is the way to go.

Thanks, should have realized the rear to front change, all set for now!!
