Hi guys,
I am a newbe to this forum.
I am driving to Warham to pick up my 65 Coupe this Friday.
I have been accumulating many parts since my order and did not order the 3-link rear. I am not going racing so, can anyone give me some advice on weather to go 3-link or 4 link. Should I buy the FF5 3-link ,another $1000 bucks, or can I use a universal 3 or 4 link? I have found several company's that make kits.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Scott

The video below shows all three rear suspensions options including the 2015 I.R.S.

As for me, I'm a big fan of the 3-Link and have it on my MK-4; however, most folk prefer the I.R.S...The 3-Link was developed and used on the Challenge Cars and is extremely simple...

Another added bonus, which was very important to me, was it allowed the ability to shorten the wheelbase...This allowed me to center the rear wheels within the wheel arches...It also plants the crap out of the tires when playing the stop light game or launching the car at our local Drag Strip.

Good Luck & I Know You'll Pick The Best Options For Your Type-65 Daytona!

I have used both 3 and 4 link and would rate the 3 link as the best. In my coupe build I went IRS.

Here is the 2018 SEMA / Gen-3 Daytona which used the 3-Link Rear.

4-link in a Coupe is only offered in the base version, where it’s assumed a donor would provide the components. So I assume that's what you ordered? The donor-based 4-link is universally considered the least desirable rear suspension. It can be significantly improved with aftermarket parts including coilovers. But then the price difference to 3-link really narrows. By a fairly wide margin. The 3-link is standard on the complete Coupe kit. The cost is included in the higher cost of the complete kit. In either case, the 3-link is by far the best option for a solid axle rear. IRS is the premium option, and having it my last two builds (Roadster and Coupe) I prefer it over the solid axle. I find ride quality to be the best and I've had all three. 4-link, 3-link and IRS. Cost is widely discussed with IRS, which I understand. How much the difference is depends on how the parts are sourced in both cases.
