What’s the best LED headlight assembly for the roadster ? The GE 2D1 are terrible. Just got the roadster on the road this week ,I work afternoons and wheel the car out about 10:30 pm go for a 15 /20 mile cruse at night . At night in Michigan there are animals that will destroy a car. I would like to hear what some of you guys did with the builds and used. Thanks as always !

I really like the kit I got from Breeze (headlight, as well as markers/brake lights/signals). I really never liked driving after dark before I got it, now I can see. It uses Hella conversion lenses to allow an H4 style (LED) bulb to be installed in the round headlights. The Hella H4 conversion lenses are also available at Amazon, etc if there's a specific LED bulb you'd like to use.

Another option is Holley RetroBright. No direct experience, but seems like an elegant solution with a good beam pattern. However, as discussed in a recent thread the price is pretty high.

Edit: Add photo. LED on driver's side, sealed bulb on the passenger side.

If you want LEDs, be sure to get LED-specific reflectors (projector) housings. A great alternative if you want to stay with non-LEDs is this reflector:

I upgraded my old Jeep TJ from the factory sealed beams to these and the difference was amazing. The only negative is that they are not DOT approved, so if you have annual safety inspection requirements in your area, these are not going to pass.

I used these and they are incredibly effective the handful of times I've driven at night.

Another vote for the Breeze conversion to LED. Easy install and much improved night driving with them

I'm planning on using these

They have dual halo lights that can be used for daytime running lights and turn signals.

I ordered the Breeze kit too. Looked at options on Amazon, but all looked too modern for what I'm trying to do with the build. Btw, I found this review helpful regarding quality and performance of the various options https://youtu.be/ekMpdKfLlMQ

Another vote for the Breeze setup. I did the full conversion, big difference and well worth it.

Another option for you to consider, I am running the PL700 Tri-Bar headlights with LED bulbs and they are working good, infact just took a drive the other night and very pleased how they project light. Pretty affordable package purchased together. Complete plug and play set up.

At SEMA I saw some light for Holley that were made by Morimoto. They were amazing and actually DOT legal with reflectors designed for LED’s great optics and choice of color spectrum. Would already have them, but gasoline prices are cutting into the wants vs the needs.

Fman,
What’s the story on the driving lights? They look pretty cool. Are they useful as well?
I recall Tangent had a set they sold a few years ago but I think they are no longer in business.

I purchased the retrobrites and they certainly seem like solid units so far. Install right in the plastic buckets with no modifications and are very bright.

Haven't had a chance to put them on the road yet but so far so good.

They are the same lights tangent used without the center section, I picked them up on Ebay. I also replaced the halogen bulbs with LED and they actually do project a decent amount of light now. I installed them because I liked the way they filled in the lower nose section the extra light is also helpful.

That’s what I was talking about! I talked with the engineer that worked on them. They’ll be on my car in the spring!

I'm using exactly these as well. I'm happy with them. Taking the time to point them correctly for the beam pattern is important. Not sure if it's the "best", but I'm certainly happy with it.

Been considering fog lights in similar configuration to yours and have been spending a bit of time searching for something I like. Perhaps I am picky, but haven't found much that matches the vision in my head. Yours, however, look really nice. Do you happen to still have the info on the fog lights you went with and where you purchased them? If you do, would appreciate the nudge in the right direction.

Beautiful car BTW.

Unless something’s changed, the Breeze kit is the one sold by Watson’s Streetworks. I’ve used it on two builds and it’s a huge upgrade over the stock halogens. There are lots of reviews out there and you can get into analysis paralysis finding the “best” setup. But this one works.

Yep it is. I'm fortunate to live within walking distance of Watson's. They have tons of great hotrod stuff and do many behind the scenes kits for Breeze, FF and many others. Breeze and Watson have both been very successful at extracting many dollars from my bank accounts. :-) And yes the LED kit from them is awesome. I would have done that kit but I had already converted mine before I was aware of the Breeze/Watson one. Many of the Cobra's in my local group have the Watson kit in big part because we all saw Harvey's car (owner of Watson) on all our drives.
