Hats off to Mike Forte. I went to help a friend with first start on his MK IV, He purchased his engine/trans combo from Mike, its a Boss 363 and TKX. Disconnected coil to crank for oil pressue. The gauge was not reading (speed hut gauges electric), They were closed today so I called Mike he was unsure of the wireing for speedhut gauge but suggested use the old standby manual gauge. Went an got an inexpensive oil pressure gauge and had 45 lbs at cranking so all is good. Filled carb with fuel ,Connected the coil and she fired right up. Thing sounds great. NIce job on the engine Mike and for talking to me when you were even at home. Now to call speedhut next week I think the wireing is wrong not a defective gauge.

Again big THANK YOU to Mike.

Did you have oil pressure on speed hut gage when engine was running?

I was running into the same issue when I was turning the engine over, without the coil wire, to get oil pressure. I can not find my original post but someone on the forum pointed out to me that the gages will not read pressure while cranking. I used the manual oil pressure gage like you did. After verifying oil pressure, I connected the coil and the engine fired up, gages read oil pressure after key was in run position.

hope this helps

This is correct for the speed hut gauges

I have the speedhut revolution series of gauges, and my gauges absolutely do read pressures (and temps, volts, etc) when cranking.

The only difference that I could imagine is how the ignition circuits are wired, not in the gauges.

I believe you are correct, it is how the RF harness is wired and Integrated with the gages.

The RF harness is configured to cut power to the gauges when the ignition switch is in the crank position.
