I have a question regarding those those ABS tone rings on the hubs. I'm not using them so do I take them off - leave them on? Is there a downside to leaving them on?
If take them off is the way to go what would be a good way to do it, staying away the the bearings and all. The hubs are a tight fit on the spindle - is that normal?
Thanks. Jeff

Taking them off or not is up to you. I followed EdwardB's lead and removed mine on my coupe. Didn't really like the looks of them. Used a Dremel cut off wheel. My hubs were snug. They can always be lightly "polished" with fine emery cloth. Light taps with a mallet worked for me.

I followed edwardb's lead too and removed mine. I know it is a little thing but did not care for them particularly since they were not needed . And think about how much faster your Roadster will be with all of that unsprung weight removed :)

I left them because I'm lazy plus it didn't even cross my mind to remove them.

I removed them. They came off easily with a bearing puller.

No wrong choices here. I will point out you can see them a lot less on the roadster than the coupe if that has any impact.

Thanks for the responses guys!!
I have read EdwardB's note were he removed them. I don't have a bearing puller but i do have a dremel, being super careful is the key here.. Less weight too- there's a bonus, I can appreciate Go Daddy's position on this as well- lol.
Since you can't really see them I guess like you said there is no wrong way to go here.

Hubs - emery cloth and light taps with a pallet. Once I have it on far enough for the nut to thread I assume it will draw in and set as it gets closer to torque.
Thx..

The hubs should install without force, someday they may need to be removed.

I mentioned this in my build thread, but will here again. I don't like the look of them and have no plans or desire to install ABS. So removed them. It's super easy. Even for lazy folks. ;) Use a Dremel cut-off disk or a full size cut-off tool, and put a groove anywhere on the circumference. Doesn't have to go all the way through. Maybe halfway or a little more. So no danger to the rotor itself. Then take a screwdriver or cold chisel tool, place it in the groove, and give it a good rap. The material is brittle. It will finish the break and it will fall off.

Hi Rich - Thanks, the hub fit on the spindle is snug but I wasn't pushing all that hard - I knew I wanted to deal with the ring's first.
Hey Paul, thanks for the tip - I have a cutoff tool and screwdriver I'll give it a try.

It did cross my mind. So I am just lazy and left them on.

I follow edwardb's advice and they just fell off with no problemo
