View Full Version : Coyote Under-car Exhaust header
It's a little early, but I'm starting to plan out my under-car exhaust for the Coyote. I know it's not a common setup, but does anyone have header recommendations?
I ran across this ported version of the cast iron manifold by Ford Performance. It looks like it could be a good block-hugging option, but when reversed for the under-car setup, I wonder about interference with the alternator.

If this is just the FP cast manifolds ported, they may not work. I am putting a Gen 2 Coyote into a 70 Mustang fastback. I bought the standard manifolds through summit as they looked like they would work. However I found that those manifolds were really truck manifolds. The exit on the DS manifold was turned out toward the frame and could not be used while the PS manifold would have worked well. Since these manifolds are special, i.e. ported, check the return policy before buying. When I found out the manifolds did not work for my build, Summit took them back no questions asked.
After trying several brands of headers/manifolds, I ended up going with a mid-length headers from Ultimate Headers. They have diagrams on the headers offered showing them on an engine with dimensions. I recommend you take a look. When you get more serious, Jim at Ultimate Headers is a great resource if you find you need something unique. Although not cheap, UH makes an awesome product.
Thanks Alan, I'll take a look at Ultimate. I know that BBK makes a shorty that will work, as member Duke on this forum used that. But I'm just looking at all my options.
