I hope to be able to buy the 30th edition anniversary car, and i wanted to see what you guys would like to see on the 30th?

I thought they should follow regular anniversary gift for ideas, although the 20th anniversary was black (instead of Emerald), 25th anniversary was bronze (instead of silver) - the 30th would be 'Pearl' - not sure how you'd bake that into the mix ? :)

I'd say the Coyote/TKX/IRS combo should be the standard given the modernization,
probably a unique wheel option like the 25th anniv cars were a spin on the '67 sunburst wheels
171664

carbon fiber wheels would be pretty awesome - but also very expensive

How about they finally come out with a competition dash. I never understood why the Mk4 which is based on a 427 s/c (semi competition) has a street dash.

I asked them once and even shared my CAD and DXF files. No response. By the way, mine is a 15 year anniversary. At some point this means nothing when they come out with an anniversary edition every 5 years.

Here is one of my favorite details of my build. My version of the competition dash. Not completely correct but at least based on one.

Yes the competition dash! Would love them to offer their "padded vinyl dash" in competition layout. Also perhaps swap out the clock for an oil temp gauge. :P

P.S. FFR if you're reading this, the moment you make the vinyl padded dashboard with glove box dashboard in competition layout I'm going to order one.

...although the 20th anniversary was black...

Actually the 20th anniversary Roadster chassis was a kind of silver/grey color. Tiger Drylac DB 703 Glimmer, 49/84340 to be exact. And the engine facing panels were powder coated white. I had serial number 003.

I'd like to see them. Fix The Drivers Side Door. so that it doesn't dive into the body.
As a former fiberglass boat builder the door fitment issue is less than acceptable.
It was such an easy fix for me that I have no idea why they won't do it.
Pulling the body and/or shimming the door is not the best solution.

Now that their body modeling technology and capability has improved significantly (as they've shown with the F9) I'd love to see a new body that addresses all the asymmetry and wonkiness, and fits without significant massaging and bodywork. They could then offer it in various gel coat colors (like RCR does with the RCR40) for people that want to run it in a colored gel coat finish.

So, first off the OP asked what I would like to see... not what is the economically viable choice for FFR.

Where these types of discussions invariably go is that if a change increases the price of the kit by $1 then it makes the kit less attainable to someone. That's a fair point. Quality vs. price is always a balancing act, and in the end I believe people don't choose FFR because it's the cheapest. They choose it because of the quality of the product.

To your question specifically, there's no question that this would increase the price of the kit by some amount. This could be partially offset by a reduction in the cost of required bodywork prior to paint. Perceived value would also be affected by the flexibility afforded in being able to drive a car in a nice-looking gel coat finish for some period of time (if so inclined) before paint, or by simply being able to do a wrap of your choice on it with no bodywork required. What would that be worth? For someone that is planning to paint their car from the start, the 'incremental value' of the reduced bodywork is, what... $2-3K? For someone that can now just drive it in gel coat or put a wrap on it, perhaps it's worth a bit more?

What's it worth to you as a body/paint guy if it significantly reduces the amount of bodywork you need to do on every single one of these? I'd imagine your throughput would increase pretty significantly.

I’m far from ready for body work but I have started researching and studying techniques. I like your fix to the drivers side door issue,,,,, I will copy your example.

Thanks for sharing,

I'd like a limited edition fully Carbon Fiber Body.

How about pin drive. Love the look and always wanted to do it. Have a package where you get the cut down housing 3 link from Moser, shorter LCA's and hardware. Or even a redesigned IRS for pin drive. I know most people do not care with the spinner covers really negating the need for pin drive. It would open up some classic wheels for the roadster.

Now that I think about it what a cool winter project if FFR would offer a pin drive kit for the 3 link to retro fit.

Jon,
Pin drive on a solid axle rear is simply a matter of narrowing the rear end. FFR already accommodated pin drive width in front; it requires their pin drive width lower control arms, the use of 1994/1995 spindles with their pin drive width adapters. It does however result in compromised front suspension geometry.

I would like to see provisions for a warp drive, phasers and a GPS that has Patrick Stewart's voice saying "make it so" every time you hit the gas pedal :D

As much fun as phasers would be..... I was thinking something a little more simple.

1. LED lights
2. Carbon fiber shift knob (with a factory five logo), to match my carbon fiber dash
3. Competition dash

Or a blacked-out package (rims, roll bar, windshield frame, pipes, etc) with Halo style DRL to give it a modern take on a classic. I am sure the purists might disagree with that though.

+1 on the black-out package, including smoke lenses for headlights and tail lights. That would have saved me a TON of time and expense (and don't forget the leather hold straps for the doors! :). Other thoughts:

- A shallow-depth glove box option for those of us who order the heater/defrost option
- A carbon fiber dash WITHOUT the glove box cut-out (again, for those of us who ordered the CF dash and the heater/defrost options)
- An optional glove box kit for the rear wall, between the seats ((again, for those of us who ordered the CF dash and the heater/defrost options)
- A carbon fiber tunnel cover
- An easier way to modify and fit the Ford Coyote electronic accelerator pedal into the MKIV footbox. Man, that was a pain...

Yes! And the larger hood/scoop opens up intake manifold & air filter options.

Better QC on the body. last few MK4's I built had bad issues with air pockets under the gelcoat. Special instruments and wheels.

Scrolling through I was like meh, then saw this one. Pretty much doing all of what you mentioned, and added a ton of work. But, it's gonna piss me off when they have a nicer version of the mess I'm making in kit form.

I'd vote for a blackout option / chrome delete, LED lighting all around, and how about providing a hard top option? I think there's enough folks buying these that would like a hard top option for extending the driving season (hardtop + AC / Heat = fun all year around). I know I know....they already offer a soft top. But I'm not a fan of how that looks, plus they might be able to offer a hard top before the soft tops are off of backorder :)

For me a better fitting body with a central mounting point or several locator points, which would take the guess work out of "is it going to fit" "or is it in the right place". With their robotics now that they are using to cut parts out, I would think they could refine the bodies a bit. I have no complaints with the chassis, that was enjoyable and fun to assemble.

Oh, and I forgot, the super snake hood would offer a lot more options as far as manifolds with hood clearance issues. Plus, I think it looks cool.

- A frame that is designed to accommodate a rear exhaust routing for those that want that look.

- A slabside body option.

since the 25th anniv cars took a styling design from the sunburst wheels, I'd like to see them do a modern version of a different wheel, maybe the FIA style?
