I just received my new door latches yesterday and wondering if anyone has replaced the old style door latches with the new ones? Any tips or tricks to get them assembled and installed? The raw steel parts look like they could use a little de-burring and painting. I was thinking of painting them with POR-15 or would that be overkill? I downloaded the extensive instructions and it doesn't look too bad, but it also doesn't look like a direct swap. I'm thinking I'll need to put some new rivnuts in the doors to match the new door latches. I'm also digging the handy rivnut tool included in the package that also doubles as a ring adjuster for the shocks. Great idea!

Any insight would be appreciated.

TIA!

I'm not familiar with the "new" latches. Any pictures you can share?

Thanks. Interesting. My doors, with Mr. Kleiner's help, close and fully latch on their own. Hold the door open and simply let go and they close and latch.

Interesting. They were delayed in my kit. I got them about a month ago. Not sure if old or new though.

Ever heard that old adage about if it ain’t broke don’t fix it? ;)

POR-15 will fade in direct sunlight. If you go that route, there’s a clear on offer that will prevent the POR from clouding.

I just received a pol box that said the door latches were in it. But, they were not. Third pol box I've gotten with things checked off that were not in the box. :(

Got around last week to opening the door latch box of parts (it was POLed). Seems everything is there, plus a few extra parts, none of which have duplicates that I would expect for two doors. I sent a pic to F5 support asking about it. The response was “Given that these are new latches, assemble the latch as the instructions call for. If everything is installed and working without the extra parts you show, then they are not needed. Otherwise, the assembly should use them as you are building the latch.” Okaaaay?
