Registering in Florida

Has anyone registered in the last 30 days? wondering if the paper work had been filed to enable the " easy " way to register as a replica car. Thanks in advance

I asked this same question a few months ago straight to FFR, and Dave Smith replied saying it's not an issue anymore and you should be able to register as a replica rather than a kit assembled from parts.

That being said, a recent graduated build on here from Naples (if I recall correctly) had to go the "assembled from parts" route on his title.

I guess your mileage may vary. For my upcoming build, I'll certainly be confirming with the local DMV they can go the Replica route. I want my title to say 1965.

I did a little digging this morning. Here's the proof FFR is registered with the NHTSA:

And now the only curve ball I could see in TL-48 is under Section 2, part D - Factory Five Racing doesn't appear to be registered with the Division of Corporations on sunbiz.org

That would be me and yes it must be ASPT. Dave would be incorrect. The issue is that line in that document under special instructions. C. The manufacturer of the replica vehicle must be registered with the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration. FFR is not listed in the NHTSA as a manufacturer. They must verify that it is on the list or they can not use a replica designation. Trust me, I went to 2 different offices and even a friend I knew for 25 years that worked at 1 and got the same answer every time.

Then I have to wonder if your experience was just bad timing. My link above shows their registration with NHTSA, but it says "Production Start date 9/1/2022" and then elsewhere on that page it shows an April of 22 date for registering their trademark. Perhaps they literally just applied and got it in 2022.

Interesting, That would be great news for those moving forward since that was the only reason they told me why I could not. I wonder if they will re-title.

I believe you need both the NHTSA and Florida directory of businesses registered. Form TL48 say the replica can not be assembled from a kit. Specifies it needs to be from a manufacturer. FL really messed this one up for home builders
