Why is it that so many people do not put where they live? I find it handy to see where people live as I have found many folks that are near me that are asking questions and we are able to help them by getting the guys together to help them out. Probably a silly question with an easy answer. just curious.

Ya I get it. Privacy is a PIA these days. On the same token one of the first thing I did when I got my car was try to find others near me in hopes of going out on cruises and making new friends.

We've got a little Factory Five Family in my neck of the swamp because of this forum.
3 / MK-4's
1 / Daytona
1 / 33 Hot Rod
There are two other guys building MK-4's and we can't wait for them to complete them.

I do the same thing. If I see an owner close I do contact them. It's often like finding a lost family member.
4 Roadsters and 2 Coupes and 2 more in early order stages through the site.

I guess it's a privacy thing, as John42 said. But still, it's nice to know where people are from because it's fun to connect with others. That's a big part of this community! I'm thankful for all the people I've met - online and in-person - here on the forum. I've made friends all over the country!

Same here, had I not, I would never of found out about the local cobra club. BTW it always cracked me up when people were worried about someone finding your address. They used to deliver it to every ones door, it was called a phone book.

Nothing to do with this site but in general I do provide the biggest major city by me even though I do not live there. Seems like a good compromise to me.

Add info to your profile. In the 'about me' tab you can add your location and in the signature you can add info about your build or plans. It makes replies so much easier if some basics are known.

Well then, Quincy, add your location.

I do not have access to my profile, so I sent a note to the admin. It is helpful to identify the general location for questions or being able to see if it is possible to peek in on a build.

Some people get so paranoid about privacy yet they carry around an electronic ball-n-chain in the form of a smartphone that knows more about them than their kids do. I don't get it.
My anonymity is that nobody here knows my exact name. Yea, I live in Tampa, FL, along with 3 MILLION OTHER PEOPLE!!!
Even if I was to meet up with some other Cobra enthusiasts who ended up knowing my name and where I lived, I still don't care because now they know as much about me as my postal delivery person (who probably has a greater chance of losing their marbles than someone who drives a Cobra).
You could always post the County you live in. That should be a large enough area to provide privacy but still show that you’re nearby for a member to message you.

I'm don't have any privacy concerns. I won't put my routing number online but your welcome to my address. Stop over anytime.
