So here is my stable. And I am done!! I added the side engine vents it really needs it. I finally got the FITech EFI set up. She starts well now. But I need to address the engine heat. After about an hour of driving the engine compartment heats up so much it starts coming into the cab. After a lot of net surfing it seems I need to wrap the ram horn manifold to keep the heat down. Have any of you wrapped your headers or manifold for this reason? The firewall is completely sealed off with Hush Mat carpet and foam.

Nice stable, if the firewall and floor are well insulated...are you sure its not coming in from the floor? My 33 Hot Rod has the exhaust very close to the floor. In previous Corvettes I have owned I have had to add heat shield to the bottom of the floor to reflect the heat to the ground. In fact even now the shifter handle on my 66 gets really hot from exhaust heat.

Sorry, no thoughts on the heat issue, but that Apache is the bomb!!

Any chance you can post some more pics of her?

I hope you can get some more useful answers.

Steve

I know there are some youtube vids on wrapping headers and manifolds. They recommend soaking the wrapping in water to help them form better.
