Hello All,

I have the latest style all LED GPS Vintage gauge set and have populated my recently covered dash. I wanted to check the lighting before moving forward with wiring and have daisy chained the gauges with the tri color ribbon. When I apply positive power to the white and negative to the black the needles and backlighting illuminate. When I apply positive to the red, the needles jump for moment and then go to zero combined with a slight hum. I was expecting to see the voltmeter register the voltage. I checked to make sure all the plugs/colors lineup and tried varying plugs in the daisy chain. Am I doing something wrong? First tried with a 9v battery and then a 12v power supply, same results.

Thanks!

Your voltage gauge has a separate wire for the voltage being measured. Shows as yellow in my instructions. The red and and black wires power the gauge. But aren't used for the measurement. I've used the Brn Gauge Feed for the yellow wire. I've never noticed the gauges humming.

Thanks Paul but I guess the latest gauges changed again, my volt gauge only has the tricolor ribbon coming out. No yellow. Sure wish they would update the instructions and schematic.

Hmm... been a couple years since I've had their gauges. So obviously something's changed but not their instructions. I know they changed their lighting (now all LED) and also their oil pressure gauge (from 2-wire to 3-wire) but not aware of a change to the voltage gauge. Seems that a call to Speedhut is in order.

Talked to Speed Hut. Turns out the hum/buzz coming from the volts gauge is normal when initially powered. Just had to wait thru it until the gauge woke up and started working. I was hearing the sound and thinking it was bad and was disconnecting power before the gauge had a chance to start working.
