I know many parts will work. I have read the threads and made a search, but my question is about the parts that are usable from the SVT IRS. Brake rotors, calipers and the bearings I have read will work. What about the diff and the knuckles?

Riff the knuckles and the carrier should work just fine but I would pop the rear cover and look at the gears ect!! HTH TPA65CPE

The Mustang IRS cannot be used in our kits.

Brian,
I understand that the unit will not bolt in. My question is what parts will fit. I have read that the brakes and the bearings should fit the axles supplied with the kit. Will the center section and knuckles bolt in?

The IRS does not bolt in NO, But many parts work, the spindles are all that should not be useable. The 99 and the T bird share the same CVs I think. The pumpkin will work, the brakes will work but need an adapter, use the hubs from the cobra in a pair of T bird knuckles. Is it easy, no, will it work with some work, yes. JMHO, YMMV, I do not work for FFR but did build an FFR with an 01 donor.

The Cobra pumpkins have 31 spline axles. The Thunderbird Pumpkin uses 28 spline axles. Since you need to use the Thunderbird axle shafts and spindles. It will save you alot of trouble if you use Thunderbird parts. The Cobra axles are too wide to fit in the car.

The Cobra Hubs and Bearings will work with our IRS. The brakes do require a special bracket.

Best regards

Brian,

Thank you for the detailed information. I was hoping that even though the cost of the SVT was higher, I could save some money by not having to find the Thunderbird IRS parts. I may go back to my original plan to use a Mustang GT as the donor for the coupe and buy the IRS parts new from FFR venders.

Again, Thank you to everyone who chimed in. It was all helpful.
