I painted the MK4 Rangoon Red one of the original cobra colors. The Cobra I built in 1981 was also painted the same color.
It took me about 4weeka from start to finish to Paint the car.

Very NICE!! I plan on painting mine myself as well. Did you do it in your garage? Did you make your own paint booth or just paint and sand it all out?

I built a tent using 3/4 " PVC pipe, 3 mil plastic sheeting held together with zip ties. I also used 2 x 20" box fans with 20x20 cheap filters taped to the fans for exhaust
. I changed the filters after shooting epoxy, primer, base ,and clear. I had very little nibs or trash on car.
I never glued the PVC together, using Ts top and bottom. I spaced the vertical stays every 36". It really worked great. I took the tent down in an hour, keep the plastic sheeting and the pvc to be used agian.
The tent size was 14'x18'. It was enough space to paint car on the body buck with wheel and to hang hood, doors and trunk on ladders using a bar across the top and wire to hang the other panels.
I wet sanded car with 1500 and 2000 and then buffed the car out. I was really pleased. It is not a show car but a driver with a 427 engine that I also built.
The best thing of the whole process is I love painting the car and it only cost me$2000.

I like it, looks great.
Not sure I'm up to the task but really appreciate your talent and ambition. The $2000 cost certainly got my attention.
