I have the power steering kit by the way. And also we are approaching the go kart stage and haven't driven yet. The issue we see now is if you turn the steering wheel all the way ( which you wouldn't need to do in normal driving) it hits the f panel. Is there some adjustment that needs to be made here?

The simple solution is to add some steering travel limiters to the steering rack. A more involved option (maybe not an option if you are nearly at the go kart stage) would be to go with the FFmetal fat tire F-panels. (http://ffmetal.com/#fft)

Do a Google search for steering rack limiter for an 87 Mustang. Here’s a YouTube video link on how to instal them. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwi3zOy9q7X5AhUJFTQIHUz2DBEQwqsBegQIBBAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DHG 3bH1l_36Y&usg=AOvVaw2AlszssDT1-cp3_xo00ee1

Yes, you can add limiters but as you said yourself, it isn’t something that comes into play unless your “normal” includes making 3 point turns inside your garage (I’ve done that ;)).

Is the car on jack stands? I noticed that it would hit the F panels when elevated but not an issue once it’s lowered to ride height

Breeze sells the rack limiters.

Proper alignment and rack centering first, then limiters.

I never worried about it. The edge of the tire is hitting a nice flat surface so no damage can be done at parking lot speed.

So what? Let it hit. You'll never turn that far while driving.

In a previous life, different car, the 275s would hit the frame, was obvious as powdercoating was worn away. Never caused a problem, never hit except during parking lot maneuvers, tires didn't care a bit, they were used to rubbing on things.

If still concerned a big hammer will solve the problem and then you'll have a tighter turning radius.

Like somebody else mentioned, we had issues with run when the suspension was at full drop on jack stands. When the cat was on the ground it improved significantly. We also did the same as everybody else and just ignored it.... I now have 3500 miles on it and no issues because we rarely are at full lock.

Clearly I'm in the minority here, but leaving this unaddressed when the fix is so simple just seems dumb to me. We put so much time and effort (and money) into obsessing over a million other aspects of these builds that nobody will ever see, and yet a tire rubbing at full lock... yeah, whatever. Should be OK.

To each his own....but I'll join you in the minority here.

Another agreement with JohnK here. If you're in go-kart it shouldn't be THAT impossible to remove the factory F panels to swap it out with FF Metal ones. I LOVE the small turning radius afforded by that mod.

No one has asked, "does it do it on both sides or just one side"?
If just one, your rack isn't centered turn-to-turn.
