I have had my cab on and off a few times, usually gather a few neighbors and we manage. Unfortunately we also usually manage to scratch up the powder coating on the roll bars and the edges of the powder coated firewall. I am not overly concerned with the roll bars but really need to find a better technique to avoid damaging the firewall. It is really hard for me to imagine what the stress level would be like if the cab was freshly painted.
I have removed a little material from the lower flanges, tape suspect areas and spread the lower flanges as much as I dare but still have interference. So I can’t help but think I am missing something.
So any pointers or tips from the Factory Five brain trust?
Thanks!

We painted the cab on the chassis.

Don't have any easy answers. For the several times I had mine off and on I too struggled with it. Had a helper and we never did find a perfect method. Used towels and whatever to protect the powder coat and spread as much as we felt reasonable. No major damage and it's on for good. We plan to paint in place as well. It's not coming off again.

It is going to have to come off at least one more time to finish up some fiberglass work on the cab extension but think I will wait until I get the doors fit and functional. Maybe some sanding and filler before it goes back on, we will see when the time comes. Tom, definitely leaning towards paint with cab on! Thanks guys

I rigged up an electric hoist and made slings to raise and lower. I took mine on and off probably 10 times by myself. Just had to raise a little a a time and walk around relieving the areas that catch a little at a time. plus had those areas covered with some gorilla tape. Painted with the body off.

Thanks for the pictures Bruce, the area you have taped up on the firewall is exactly where the edges of mine got scraped a little. I had it taped but will definitely add more!
