View Full Version : Converting to 6AN Fuel Lines

Hi All,

I am installing a Ford 347 c.i. Fuel Injected Engine from Blueprint which comes with an external Sniper fuel pump, and I have a few questions.

The guide says that I need to upgrade the lines to 6AN (instead of the 5/16" and 1/4" lines that come with the kit). I am trying to figure out if there is a hanger/pickup that uses 6AN (3/8") lines but is also compatible with the Sniper external pump that comes with the engine.

Similarly, can the Pro-M Racing Hanger (https://www.promracing.com/high-flow-fuel-pump-hanger-for-1986-1997-mustangs.html) be used without an internal pump?

If I decide to use the Pro-M Racing Hanger, should I use a 255 or 340 lph pump?

If I use the external pump, does the pressure regulator go between the pump and the engine or between the pump and the tank?

Thank you!

I'd say the size of the fuel pump is based on your expected horsepower output. There are calculators out there for this. I am running a -8 feed line and a -6 return back to the Pro-M hanger and that is where I do the transition to the smaller feed line. My pressure regulator is on the back side of my fuel rails before returning to the tank. That way you're see the pressure in your rails. Someone else may have a different opinion. You can order either pump from Chris at Pro-M when you get the hanger. I prefer the In-Tank because it's quieter. More of a person preference.

I believe the Sniper has a built-in pressure regulator. I'll have the same setup, so question for you or anybody else who has used the Sniper: is there any reason to bypass the built-in regulator and install an external one?

Personally I would avoid adding an additional regulator, it's just another point of failure and more connections to potentially leak. I have had two EFI systems on my car and used the built in regulator on both without issue.

Does the sniper have a gauge too?

Holley recommended an Earls fuel pressure gauge at the inlet of the EFI to read fuel pump pressure.

I used the FFR pickup, but the connector is restrictive and the end of the pickup tapers down. I cut the very end off of the pickup tube and attached a AN6 compression (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/FRA-892006BL) fitting.
This is a pic of the results.
