Hello! I’m basically waiting for the next FFR sale or discounts to come out before I place my order. I live in the hottest place in the US so i don’t really need the kit delivered before September of next year anyway. It will be too hot to work on it before then. This is my general list of what I need and where to get it. I understand this isn’t an all-inclusive list so for. I know I am missing things for brake lines and wiring and other small things which bring me to this question.

If I order the complete kit, with everything that I want to change or upgrade (Pipes/Headers/seats/ect..) will I have a lot of extra things I don’t need? If not, is it worth it paying the extra for the convenience of ordering it all at once?

My second question is, as you look over this, can you see anything glaring that I didn’t think of?

Thank you!

First of all if you’re waiting for a sale it’s gonna’ be a long wait. With an 8-10 month backlog we aren’t going to be seeing any sales or discounts any time in the foreseeable future. Beyond that a few not insignificant items that you haven’t included are spindles, fuel tank and it’s cover, straps, fill tube and grommet, roll over valve, etc. Also you’ll be needing a wiring harness plus switches. Other items such as hood hinges and motor mounts seem kind of minor at first glance but when you start lumping them all together those nickels and dimes turn into real money. I’ve built roadsters from both the base and complete kits and after doing so am a fan of the complete. From what you have described I think going the complete kit with deletions for credit or taking the parts and then selling them would be my preference.

Good luck whichever way you decide to go!

Jeff

I was under the impression that they did a fall sale every year :(
i guess with inflation i should order it now before they raise the prices lol ;)

I had the entire tank lumped into the Breeze category but I didn't list it out. I was going to build my own harness. i have some decent wiring experience and I didn't want to be locked into what ever path the premade fit. It may sound crazy but....the wiring was the part i was looing forward too the most lol

Hello. Looks like you're doing planning, that's always good. I will eco what Jeff said...this comes up on the forum from time to time...I would choose a complete kit.

I actually built my roadster from a base kit that was upgraded with various parts included in the complete kit (such as the Wilwood pedal box). However, if I could do it again I would rather build the complete kit and sell the spare parts off. It is often death of a thousand cuts to collect all the little bits and pieces not included.

Echo above....No sales anytime soon! They already had one price bump and another one would not surprise anyone so i'd lock in now. Complete kit all the way based on what you listed, just have then delete the items you are getting elsewhere.

This can be added later. But a soft top may be in your future. I live in Florida. My top goes on and stays on all summer to get out of the blazing sun.

I put my complete order in at the end of may. The basic price has gone up about $2k or more since Covid. I originally was going to do the base, however the complete kit only went up $1k, given the higher prices on new and used components, the complete kit was better for me. It’s more $ on the front end, but I think it will work out in the long run. Run the $ and be sure u r using current prices.

Ditto on the comments on a fall sale. I think that was their slow time in the past. Not now a days. I have a 9 month lead time. Bad business to give discounts during tough times with hard to get parts, increasing costs, and more customers than u can satisfy. My $.02.

Good luck on your decision and build. Tom
