I would like the opinion/ recommendations from the Factory Five hive mind about finishing the aluminum under the door on the driver and passenger side. The manual shows riveting it in and glueing carpet over it which I am sure is just fine. But was thinking of doing something different. Since I have some experience skinning carbon fiber over panels I was thinking of skinning them with carbon fiber to match the dash. I figure they would wear pretty well but not sure about scuff marks getting in and out. I was curious what you fellas did and any recommendations. You can see I have fitted them in raw at this point and letting them sort of settle into position before doing anything.https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=169834&d=1658542495

Also I wanted thank all of you guys for your help up to this point. I have been humbled by your help and friendship :) Here is another pic for your time. Getting close to graduation. Letting the paint settle before adding emblems, door panels etc.

The carpet works fine but if you want to go with a different treatment CF would fit in. As far as scuffs; those pieces never really get touched entering and exiting.

Cheers

Stair edging over carpet works well for a finished look. Your car looks great by the way.

love that edge RJD!!

found this stuff - not cheap but a nice blend of both!

Prepreg Carbon Fiber Angle .03" x 1" x 48" (https://dragonplate.com/Prepreg-Carbon-Fiber-Angle-03-x-1-x-48?gclid=Cj0KCQjw2_OWBhDqARIsAAUNTTGAEx2JT_THRCQsy 5eMRuhYRoJMQLQgZ4VbtGPVWn4FIk6qyDH32fIaAv_LEALw_wc B)

Yep, I‘ve done that on a couple of them too! Held in place with a few countersunk oval head SS phillips screws.

This is a nice option too (if Chris is still making them): http://www.darkwatercustoms.com/buildrequest.php#!/Door-Sill-Trim/c/185913

Another option, I just powder coated mine with a trim piece.

I'm not there yet to give any feedback on your question, but your Roadster looks fantastic!

Thank you Chris!!! I am one proud Papa! I know it is sort of boring being monochromatic but I just love it! I can't wait to see yours :)

Looks awesome Travis! This might be a viable option as well. I also like your signage :) Where do you get the trim piece? That is what I will be looking for.

Jon I Picked it up from Home Depot of all places, they will direct ship to your house. It has been holding up well, no chips or any issues with it. I also used double sided gorilla tape and a few rivets to keep it in place. The hot exhaust decal was really for my wife (and passengers) to remind her when getting out of the car to watch her leg, and so far knock on wood it has been working.
