Happy 4th all.
Need some help identifying this black box, sits on top of the passenger side foot box with four wires coming out (black white, red and green) and goes into a harness.

Could it be a converter for a speed sensor?

There is no numbers or markings on it. 168955

Take it down, open it up to see what's inside

If you have a Coyote engine, that might be a speed sensor box. It should have dip switches inside.
I think it is utilized to prevent stalling on deceleration to idle speeds.

Thank you... and I do have a Gen 1 coyote.

I purchased the car unfinished after drivetrain installed.

I have been chasing a high idle problem which appears started after this box was installed, there was a tune added prior to the box/sensor install to eliminate the deceleration stall... then this box installed... according to original owner that's about when the high idle started.
Still trying to get to the bottom of a high idle issue

Thank you again.

Opened it up... i believe it's for recalibration for the speed sensor... can't imagine it could have anything to do with raising the idle. 168958

It’s a Coyote Speed Dial and in fact it has a lot to do with idle speed.

Thanks again Jeff, I am reading about it now, they are all set on "0" and at this point not exactly certain it was needed, he installed a JMS tune prior to the box to eliminate the stalling and he said it did so not certain why the speed dial, I am thinking about putting an "on/off" switch on the power wire and see if it changes my idle

UPDATE... thanks guys.

I have been struggling with a high idle issue on what's otherwise a fantastic running and performing coyote roadster.

I knew there was a JMS tune on the car for the stalling issue so the speed dial would just be redundant IMHO.

I disconnected the speed dial and the car idles perfect, starts up about 1100 rpms and drops to about 650 and idles perfect... just took it out for a lengthy drive and performs perfect, great idle with no stalling at all, not even a low drop in the rpms when coming to a quick stop, thanks again guys.

If I remember from by build it was either or tune or box. I went with a tune right out of the paint shop. Same 1100 cold start dropping to 650.

Exactly... everything I've read says either or but not both, I can't believe after all this it came down to a snip of a wire.

Happy to hear you finally sorted this out. I know you’ve been chasing this and a tuner for a while. Great detective work.

Enjoy the idle

Thank you Rich... big relief... I did actually find one tuner that would take the car in, was gonna be $1400 for a Lund tune, I was having a hard time with that as the car ran so well with just a high idle... the extra days off reading old threads from this forum about tune vs speed dial lead to this discovery.

Thanks again
