Hi all, I couldn’t find anyone with a similar problem on the forum so posting to get new ideas. I have nearly 300 miles on the chassis now. I didn’t have any noises coming from the car during the first 150 miles. Then a, for lack of a better term, a minor creaking started and it is getting more noticeable as the miles go by. It happens any time the chassis is rolling, whether the clutch is engaged or not. It is also more pronounced when I am jamming the brakes to test. I can create the sound on demand by jamming the brakes. It sounds like it is coming from the rear of the car, but not totally sure. I also pulled the wheels off and looked at everything but I can’t find anything obviously loose or wrong…

My best guess is it is the bushings in the suspension, but I’m 99% certain hit all of the zerks.

Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!

The one strange noise that happened to me was the body was touching or slightly rubbing against the roll bar. Since I have the aluminum trim rings around the roll bar, I put just a touch of a silicon/waxy lube where it was touching. That fixed it. It took me quite a while to find it, but once it was lubed (very slightly) it's been quiet since.

I had exactly the same problem and thought it might be the roll bar. However it was the rubber bushings on the IRS. I am not in the fortunate position to have a hoist and the noise was driving me crazy. I reached under the car and sprayed a little bit of silicone lube on each of the rubber bushings and the noise instantly went away never to return.
At least some repairs are easy 🙂

A similar noise happened to me and it was the fuel tank strap rubbing against the fuel tank.

My noise was intermittent; however, it was solved by adding a piece of rubber (Split Fuel Hose) between the strap and tank.
Little noises are tough to find, but I'd bet money that it is something really simple.

I know you'll find it, so keep listening.

I always put a bit of grease on the bushings where it meets the chassis. It can make installation easier and it’s a great preventative measure!

I had a similar noise and traced it to the rebuilt calipers on the rear end. For some reason the mounting boss on the calipers were different length with one being slightly shorter than the other. I didn'y notice it when installing the brakes and it didn't show up until after a couple of hundred miles. I believe at that point the pads had worn in slightly and as the caliper floats on the pins, it shipped just enough so that the the caliper would rub against the disc. Started as an intermitent squeak and got worse and was noticeable when turning left. Located it by accident while spraying all the rubber joints. Replaced the caliper and all was fine.
