I am told that MKIV and FIA have the same frame. I inspected the MKIV frame in detail this weekend (I don't have mine yet) and am curious where the forward brace mounts. I couldn't see anything.

Any of you have a picture?

(It's just curiosity, I have no reason for it).

Hey,

I don't have a 289, but I do have a MKIV. I could take a picture for you, but I'm not sure what part is being referred to? Do you have any additional details?

This forward brace, where does it connect to the frame?

It lands on the 2x2 tube that runs side to side right behind the dropped footbox floor.

Thanks for the clarification. It looks to me like the roll bar front brace connects to the 2x2 square tube that runs between the trans tunnel and separates the foot boxes into two portions: In front of the dash and behind the dash. In front of the dash, the aluminum sheet attaches from the bottom, dropping the footbox depth the 2 inches that the tube consumes. Behind the dash, the cockpit panels go on top of the 2x2tube, and also the steel plate that serves for support and seat mounting.

Here is another picture from FFR's site showing the destination:

Here's a photo from "2FAST4U"'s graduation thread (link to thread here (https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?41380-Graduation-Day)), showing pretty clearly where it's landing on the aluminum (also, this car is amazing. I am jealous):

Finally, here's a picture from the bottom of my MKIV, with that 2x2 tube circled in red. This picture is looking toward the front of the car for reference.

I hope that helps!

The aluminum needs to trimmed since the foot of that brace is C shaped and it goes over the 2x2 frame member. Using the thru holes in the foot, drill all the way through both sides the 2x2 member and bolt it together. This is assuming you have the other end attached to the hoop which is positioned in its mounts.

For 289 specific assembly details, there is a downloadable supplement on the FFR site.
