Hello,

Ordered my type 65 on April 28. Put in most of my elections, as well as I think an early delivery should it arise. I think scheduled time is sometime in December. In between now and then, should I expect to hear anything? What is everyone’s experience with when I should get in any changes etc made to the order?

You’ll hear from FFR a couple of weeks prior to the date you were given to confirm the configuration and options before it goes into actual production. At this time you will let them know of any changes, deletions or additions to your initial order.

Interesting, I was under the assumption it took them 6 months to produce. Seems like they are so back logged that actual production isn’t until a month or so until delivery.

It doesn't take six months to produce. That's just how long it takes for your turn to come up in the production sequence. Actually, I'm hearing current lead times are even longer. When you placed your order and sent your deposit, you should have received an order confirmation with a promised completion date. Sounds like "sometime in December"? You should have an actual date. Several weeks before that, e.g. in November, you'll receive a mail package asking you to (1) confirm your order configuration and make any last minute changes if necessary, and (2) pay the balance due. The chassis will be built and all the parts staged during those last few weeks.

This is all accurate information. While visiting FFR during the open house and then again this past weekend to pick up a kit for delivery, I was able to see the next kit I'll be picking up in a couple weeks. The customer had just received the email asking for a confirmation call to verify the order and final configurations. His body was/is on the outbound rack and his pallet of all his boxes was on the shelf, wrapped and ready to go. (just waiting on final confirmation and back ordered parts to be added at the last minute) But, the final call will have to happen and of course the final payment has to be made. Once all that is done, the kit is ready for pickup by the customer or the transport agent.

Either way, your fun has begun and it sounds like you should be working on the garage... :-)
