Steering Double D shaft

I still have this shaft on my POL and have no idea when I will get it. I am installing the Power Steering option but this shaft is the same for both from what I can see.
35071-15.08" 90 DEGREE DD SHAFT

Question is why can"t I just use a normal straight Double D shaft? Why did FFR use a 90 degree rotation on this shaft? You should be able to align the steering column to any location unless I am missing something.

I guess no one had to do this. Is anyone else waiting on this shaft or is it me? If I installed the engine, it looks like I could install this after without much effort? 302 with shorty headers.
