Hi all, now that the car will be on the road I am thinking about theft. A coworker actually bought a FFR Roadster and it was stolen. Is anyone using GPS trackers like this (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SSWY8SH?tag=bestseller087e-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1&keywords=GPS%20Trackers) one on Amazon? Recommendations for the best solution along these lines?
Thanks (as always)!

If you want to use a gps tracker just use an apple air tag. They are small, don't require any extra power source plus can be hidden anywhere on the car.

Do your homework.....Some of the tracking devices will not track if the sensor goes across an international border.
I have seen some theft recovered vehicles, and it's a 50-50 crap shoot if the owner would want it back.

If someone steals my car, I hope they'll wrap it around a light pole.

Thanks all, appreciate the input.
I figure it's gone anyway if it goes across an international border....

There are so many opportunities since these cars are built by us. Hidden switches can be wired in to disable fuel pumps, or ignition that will not allow them to be started unless you know how to enable the system. Care / motorcycle motion sensors can be used to activate loud deterrents to chase off those that might try to tow it away. There are negatives to introducing any of these into your car. They are an additional point of failure, or may draw unwanted attention if you forget or are unable to disable alarms. However, since these are undocumented, thieves would not know they are there. Even with every possible solution, thieves may get what they are after. I agree that if stolen, it's unlikely you will want what's left if it's later found.

I have an Apple Air Tag in the glovebox of mine (don't tell anyone :o) and good insurance. If someone is going to steal it, almost for sure would be winched up on a flatbed. All the internal hidden switches and gadgets aren't going to help.

Matt. I have a SPOT Gen3 mounted on my motorcycle handlebar. Not for theft, but to document my trips and also to let my wife know where I am. I long distance ride and disappear for 7-8 days. As long as I am moving and she knows I end up where I am supposed to end up, she is happy. Its probably overkill, they have a "SPOT Trace" and you can get a hardwire for it, The device is pretty inexpenseive at $80. Its the annual service fee. $120/year. Once the car moves. You get an alert on your phone. There are similar devices out there. Companies use to monitor their fleet cars. SPOT is consumer oriented. It does need clear view of the sky. It is SAT based.Hope this helps. Tom
