I just installed my FFR Wind Wings. The top bracket BARLEY grabs the frame. It’s as low as I could mount it. Is this safe?

Is the angle just off? If you pull them out a bit away from the door is there more clearance? Not sure, I have full depth on the top and bottom clamps. Even with that on the first drive they wanted to loosen and I ended up drilling small countersink depressions for the set screws and using blue locktite. Personally I think the way it looks now it’s very likely to pop off but interested to hear what others experience.

Something is not right. Is your windshield angle correct? Can you post another picture with the entire wind wing?

Best picture I have of mine but the brackets are fully seated. Look at the top bracket in reference to the windshield post screw.

It should be attached to the bracket that you bolt on to the windshield frame, not the windshield frame. the bracket is much thinner and completely goes into the clamp and the set screw tightens down on it.

Your picture if fuzzy but given whatever you've attached it to takes up the entire bracked and appears to have a channel in it, thats not the correct piece.

do you have a zoomed out pic? is that your side mirror that I see in the bottom right corner?
the brackets are mounted to the rear side of the post. it might look like you're attaching it to the front side, which is shallower and prevents you from fully seating the bracket in place.

I'm sure this is a stupid question but did you use the directions found here:

Yes, I followed the instructions. Thank you for all the responses :)
My windshield is angled right. 27 1/8 “ from top frame to side door. I followed another post on the measurements, mine is a MK4. I could double check though. The passenger side has more meat but the drivers side is more shallow.
I’ll get a better picture. it is grabbing the frame as per the instructions

I just went and looked at mine, and understand your picture a little better. The reflection off the chrome was throwing me off until i saw mine does the same. My top bracket is just below the screw hole in the frame. While it doesn't seat completely, the set screw is well on the frame. I could probably drop it a little more to get a little more bite.

Mine are mounted approx 3 inches (from center of the top windshield screw to center of the top wind wing bracket). And as others have indicated the top wind wing clamp may not seat completely against the windshield frame. My top bracket.....I can slide a 7/32 drill bit between the inside of the bracket and the windshield frame. Make sure that you do not clamp your wind wings so low that it will interfere with opening and closing the door.

I usually cut about 1/8” from the inner side of the “U” on the upper bracket. This lets the bracket move in farther and consequently the set screw gets a better bite on the side post. They are brass and a cutoff wheel in a Dremel cuts clean and quick.

***UPDATE
I just got home and took some measurements. From the center of the rear decklid stripes to the top of the windshield frame (closest point) is 33 1/2". From the floor to the top of the frame of the windshield (with carpet) is only 35" each side, give or take a 1/4 inch. Sounds like I need to nudge it forwards to get it straight. If so, then I can go down the frame farther, grabbing more meat on the frame. Click on the picture below to enlarge it
