View Full Version : Coyote / T56 Magnum vs Emergency Brake bracket

I “installed” my coyote/T56 mag combo on my Mk4 yesterday for mock-up, but it looks like the transmission is hitting the emergency brake bracket. According to the forum, some builders have trimmed, or removed the bracket. But I was wondering if anyone has tried trimming the transmission. It looks like it's just a casting tab, but I’m not 100% sure.

This is a known issue with the T56. Most common solutions are to cut the bracket and relocate the e-brake to the top of the trans tunnel, or do away with the handle completely and use an electronic unit with push button, like the E-stop setup. I haven't heard of anyone trimming the T56 housing (I have the same setup and have researched it quite a bit).

Also, just in case you aren't aware, here area few other items to consider with the T56.
• Reverse lockout strongly recommended
• Different driveshaft needed
• Only works with IRS in the Roadster
• Remove the e-brake bracket and cable router brackets
• Modify the transmission A-frame?
I'm not 100% sure about the A-frame mod... Need to research that one a bit more

FYI Many of the "block" shaped tabs / protrusions are machining tabs that will never be used again. If they don't mount anything and just hit air they can be removed. I wouldn't remove any more than the ones in the way as it's more work than it's worth.

Are you saying you were able to keep the e-brake handle in the stock location by removing that casting bump? If so that would be great.

Yes. I had to remove the casting bump and open up the trans mount bracket a bit, but beyond that everything else fit by design.
