View Full Version : What suspension fits the front?

I have an old MK3 with the Bilsteins. Well, I finally got it on the road and was doing my test runs after so many years, and with 60 miles on it, my passenger suspension went out and the body collapsed on the frame. One tow later, and she's home on jacks.
Since it's been so long it's not covered by anything, and I need to grab some new suspension.

The Koni's are out of stock at F5.
What options are there for an MK3, with the upper control arms from F5 (around 2004), and the lower control arm of a 96 Mustang Cobra?
If love to keep it around the price on their site, $600ish for a 350-400hp street car. No real racing.

Thanks!

Call Gordon at Levy Racing and he can set you up.

Steno, as far asI can tell, it's the cap and threaded part of the strut that failed. The actual shock looks alright.

That's one of the places I'd use blue Loctite.

I'll grab the blue loctite, and give it a shot!

Mark the coil over height adjuster collar and count 10-15 turns as you rotate it to loosend the spring. Remove the rod end form the top mount bolt. Thread the jam nut as far onto the shaft as it will go. Thread the rod end onto the shaft until it contacts the nut. Use a wrench on the nut and another on the on the rod end and tighten them together. I arrange the two wrenches so the ends are 3-4 inches apart and squeeze them together w/ both hands. You may need to reposition the wrenches once or twice to get them fully tight. Run the collar back up matching the # of turns you adjusted it down and reinstall the top bolt and spacers.
