Stumped - Removing power steering rack, Mk4 + Coyote

I'm trying to figure out how to remove the power steering rack in a Coyote Mk4. When I remove the lock screws holding the shaft to the rack, I can't get the shaft to move back at all. It looks like the u-joint by the firewall has no room to move back.

Remove the 2 small set crews down near the rack and separate the shaft and adapter. It much shorter than the spline.

I ended up removing the rack bolts and that allowed it to drop an inch, just enough to separate the shaft from the rack.
