For anybody that put in a stereo system with a radio, what did you do for the antenna? What type did you buy and where did you locate it? I am thinking I would try to mount a small one under the body somewhere in the rear to keep it out of sight. Not sure if that would mess with the reception. Anyway, just looking for some thoughts from some of you.
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving Weekend.

I skipped the need for a antenna by building in a trunk mounted amplifier and using a mp3 player on a 3.5 mm lead. Everything is hidden. To my suprise the MP3 player has a built in radio and it actually works! When I was looking into it thinking "radio" I found a short base loaded rubber cover antenna on the rack at Walmart that could easily be hidden under the rear body. It would probably be better back away from the engine anyway so its a perfect place. I don't recall ever seeing a FFR with a antenna so odds are something similar is being used.

I used a powered antenna hooks up to 12volts mounted on the trunk hoop. Check out secret audio stereo they work great. I-pod cord, mp3 multi disc cd if wanted.. Stereo mounts where ever you want.I mounted mine in the trunk. Small controller under dash. All conections are din plug for controller mp3 and Ipod.
On my next one I will probably use one of the hidden power antennas. Last time I went to the local independent car audio store and asked if they had an extra antenna. They had one that the base was messed up on and they gave it to me. I used wire ties and strapped it to the 3/4 tubes on the passenger side. The reception was satisfactory but not as good as if it were mounted regularly. I think the metal body of a regular car increases the reception so it may not have made a difference if it was mounted normally. There was no way I was going to drill a hole and find out.

Tried the antenna's in the truck that others have used with the booster. Never could get either of them to work consistently. Then switched to a standard ,manually retractable antenna that is mounted behind the passenger seat. Came painted black which is great since you cannot see it against the black carpeting. One of those things that if I were to do it again I would do it the same exact way. Currently trying to decide where to mount an antenna for XM radio.

Put a standard antenna horizontally in the trunk mounted close to the body. Works fine.
Standard short entonna marine type behind the dash on top of the heater and it works fine!

Tahnks for all the info. I found a location in the trunk area that I think will work.
