Well as I was gently disassembling my gas cap for powder coat the push handle broke in 2 pieces.
They claim this is aluminum but it sure doesn't look like it when you examine the 2 pieces.
Anyway, I'd rather pay someone for a replacement cap than Factory Five or does someone have a replacement source other than Factory Five?
Thanks in advance.

Try these guys. I bought Girling reservoirs for my car about a month ago. Took a week for them to arrive CA to CT. Called to see if they had them in stock. My only purchase from this vendor and it was a good experience.

I ordered door latches and strikers from them, both shipped same day. Great service

JFYI - this is the same owner/company as ********** Accessories. Not implying that this is good or bad - I've purchased from them many times and always received my parts promptly, but there has been much angst on this forum over that company over the years so thought it best that people are aware that Cobra Performance and ********** are the same thing.

Ordered from csxparts.com and it was put in the mail already. Fast service.
Not sure why they did the website the way they did so that it looks like it's the same company, because it's not. Taylor owns and runs **********, but csxparts.com is run by the people who have the Cobra Experience museum. it's in the basement of the building that the museum is in. Last time I was there they were organizing and expanding their operation.

No complaint from me. Fast turn around. Hopefully good quality.

Likely the same hired-out “web team” managing both websites.

Is it me or does the fuel cap from https://www.csxparts.com/p-1177-fuel-cap-427-comp.aspx look identical to https://www.factoryfiveparts.com/14744-aston-lemans-gas-cap/ (https://www.factoryfiveparts.com/14744-aston-lemans-gas-cap/)yet 100 dollars less expensive ? CaptB , curious if they are the same once you receive the replacement.

I will tell you now after another friend looked at my cap, we're convinced it's not quite as pure aluminum as they are selling it to be either. This has "pot" aluminum metal in it.

agreed , I took mine apart and noticed the handle was cast and had to file down some edges. Also noticed the male threaded pieces for the wheel spinners are also cast then machined.

I would go back and complain to FFR about the quality of the part but I'm sure that my "disassembly" of that part would void any warranty they would provide.

I have the same Speedway cap on a Mercedes SSK replica. It looks and functions well but it is brass pivot/pressed together, you would have to drill it for disassembly and press it back together, nearly impossible.

Yep, kind of like snapping a bolt by over torquing it or dropping the windshield on a concrete floor isn’t a warranty claim.

Got my new cap from Cobra Performance.
Got to say that it is pretty hefty compared to the FFR and includes a gas cap at the top.
It also comes apart from the base with threads.
I'm sure FFR is paying $10 to some Chinese company to make theirs but these are really nice at 1/2 the price of a replacement one.

Nice! Do you mind comparing the hole pattern on the base of this one to the FFR unit? I've drilled my body for the FFR cap but this looks like a nice upgrade if it doesn't involve drilling new holes in the body.

Was spinning the FFR gas cap the other day and found casting pits in the metal. Looks like it's just cast aluminum.

Disassembled. I feel like the cast of this thing is pretty solid, but we'll see after powder coat and reassembly.

I would be tempted to put some anti seize on the those threads. Looks well made.
On the F5 part, I noticed the bolt holding the spring and washer on needed some blue locktite.
It does not need to be fully tightened, so it might loosen with use.
Looking Good!

Yes, loctite. I’ve had my come apart while at the gas pump before

Was curious whether you ever had a chance to compare the hole pattern on the mounting ring of the new LeMans cap vs the one FFR provided? Are they interchangeable, or would I need to drill new holes in the body to mount the Cobra Performance cap? Thanks!

Perfect. The pic below is the Cobra Performance gas cap and the rubber gasket is from the FFR kit.
