Hey all,

I changed out to a lower flow valve on my KRC power steering pump. After doing so, it felt as if there was no assist at all. I changed back to the original flow valve, and now it still feels as if there is no assist. During the first disassembly, the spring shot out. I assumed the spring went on to the new flow valve and would insert back into the pump. Diagrams on KRC’s website don’t show the same pump, but show the spring, then a pressure relief valve, then the flow valve. Is this the same on the Coyote pump? It looks like the pressure relief valve is still in the pump.

Thanks

Hey, in an email with KRC they specifically mentioned how many people change the flow restrictor incorrectly and it has something to do with some spring. I'm not there yet, but what you described sounds like what they were talking about. I'd email them and they should know what to do. They are pretty quick on the reply too.

When I called to order the new flow valve, the person I spoke with warned me to put my finger over the orifice when I remove the old valve because there's a spring and a ball in there that will come shooting out and most people put it back together wrong. Give them a call and they'll help you sort it out.

Thanks for the responses. I’ll give them a buzz on Monday.

Got the response from KRC. The correct order is spring-pressure relief valve-flow valve.

Everything seems to be working fine now. KRC was real quick with their response.

I'm going to change my valve in a few days. Would love to see a picture or two of what you meant by "pressure relief valve" :P

I didn’t take any pictures, sorry. The pressure relief valve is about 1” long and 1/2” wide. KRC sells them, so you can look up a picture there. FYI, I changed to the #4 flow valve and it still has plenty of assist.
