Olay, I've exhausted my Google skills and still haven't found an answer. I ordered a set of ARP intake manifold studs (354-2103). One of the 12 studs has a hex socket and two small holes through the top of the stud. The other 11 studs are all solid with no socket or holes. What is the purpose of this one stud being different?

My guess is the holes are there to provide a means to seal the engine with a wire tag. Certain spec race classes require engines be sealed by certified shops.

We have a winner!

From ARP:

"It is drilled so the inspector at a Nascar sactioned raced can install the tag after inspecting the motor."
