in-tank fuel pump

I know there are a lot of threads about electrical fuel pumps, I've seen them all, trust me! My case: carburetor, no return, electric Holley red pump in the right wheel well. Not happy about its location due to safety, but because of the IRS there's not a lot of options where to mount it.

Because of the safety and noise I'm again considering in-tank fuel pump, but I don't want to do a regulator and a return line. What are my options then? I'm reading about this retrofit Holley (https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_pumps_regulators_and_filters/fuel_pumps/carbureted_fuel_pumps/carbureted_electric_fuel_pumps/parts/19-365) in tank option, but having to drill a 3in hole in the tank somewhat scares me. Is there anything that can be a "bolt-on" fitting the current openings in the fuel tank? Or this Holley is my best bet?

Thank you. 60GPH, would that be enough for 347 with some spirited driving? I believe the current pump is 125GPH

According to Summit Racing, 60GPH should be plenty.

I did this. It was very easy with the fuel filter/regulator near the tank. No return line needed:

That’s 50+ PSI; not suitable for a carb.

Hope it works as well for you as it has me.
Don't forget the filter sock. Might be worth adding a fuel pressure gauge at you're carb too. Good luck!

Did you use any specific type of sock? Something with a hole in the middle? Or the one that goes to a side?

Gauge is a great idea too, I have been thinking about that!

Lastly.. mounting into the stock hanger , I used a pair of good quality stainless hose clamps.

I regret not going with an I tank pump. Mine is right below the passenger seat and it’s loud. Next year I will remove it and install an in tank. That and not using a mechanical linkage are my only regrets.

That’s where mine is, and now it’s my big project for next winter, I guess - to get rid of it! So I’m collecting ideas on the replacement suggestions
