I use a Blackberry Pearl 8120. It's a GSM phone and T-Mobile is my provider (because I had a crush on Catherine Zeta-Jones). Anyway, the phone is getting tired, T-Mobile sucks, and Catherine is long gone. I really want to go to Verizon because they have super coverage in my area. The problem is that Verizon is CDMA and the new Blackberry 9100 is GSM only. I like the Pearl model line because it has excellent "pocketability", and it does what I need it to do. However, I'm not married to Blackberry. I need a small phone that will sync with Outlook (Androids have trouble doing this) and will allow me to look up a few websites a day. I don't watch movies or TV shows on it, and I probably won't be controlling my house lights or turning on the oven with it. All I want is email and a good phone. Any suggestions?

Joe Take it from me. Get an I phone. You will find more uses for that thing. I cannot live without it.

And I love my Droid incredible! Like Mike I cant live without it. Either way a smart phone is like a fork lift, until you have one you don't know how much you need one! My phone before this one was a Pearl too and the difference is amazing.

I've had an iPhone for several years and recently added an iPad. They work seamlessly together and I can even control my Directv boxes while I'm on my home network. My wife who is very technically challenged and always said she just needed a phone to be a phone has gotten hooked on hers.

The Android OS is partial to Gmail and really won't sync well with Outlook. All the HTC phones are huge in comparison to my Pearl. What I'm looking for is a small footprint, under 100 grams, Outlook-friendly and Verizon-compatible. My Pearl is 2" x 4" x .4" and weighs 95 grams. The size, weight, and Outlook compatibility is so important to me that I might stay with T-Mobile, even though the chick in the pink dress is no Catherine Zeta Jones.

I have no problems at all with my Android and Outlook, works perfect. calendar, contacts, email. Before my Android I had a windows phone, That had more issues syncing with Exchange then my android! I can't really say much for Iphones, a guy I work with tried the new "s" model and ended up returning it.

The bottom line it that all will do what you need (and way more). Most of the barriers have been fixed. Apples used to have Outlook problems too.

I've gone from iPhone to Android without issues. iPhone was great to learn, but Android fixes alot of the limits I eventually found with the Apple product. (mostly iTunes is horrid)

My suggestion is to get what your friends/co-workers have. Then you have easily available learning tools and tech support.

I guess the technology made the decision for me. The reason all the newest smartphones are so big any heavy is because they are packed full of crap I'll never use. The Blackberry Pearl 9100 is all I need and it's the smallest, lightest, most "pocketable" phone on the market. I'll buy an unlocked 9100 on Ebay and slip my SIM card into it (from my 8120) and reluctantly stick with T-Mobile.
