Assembling the body panels, fenders etc to trim and fit prior to final bodywork. What is the the measure used for the gap between the cab and the front of the bed. If I use the center of wheel cutout on the side panel with respect to the axle the gap would be about 1.5".
Any ideas would be appreciated.

That sounds about right but it fluctuates from build to build a bit. You have to cut off the back of the cab lip that sits across the frame in order fro the box to sit flat on the frame. I modified mine a little bit and cut off the hinges for the tailgate and did not use them I then mounted my box as far forward as I could . Its pretty much builders choice at that point as FFR would say. 166528. Rob.

I’m running full fenders. I made sure I had the suspension all in place and close to final alignment before I committed to trimming the cab and placing the fenders. My wheels are centered in the fenders. I ended up with 3/4” between the cab and front panel of the box. They are all different, but that turned out well for me.

Hello
Awesome paint job!! and a beautiful novel color!
Did you cut the entire tab at the back of the cab? What about the tabs on the sides?
Thanks

Yes pretty much the entire rear lip to about an 1/8” I left a little bit to keep some rigidity left in it . I did not trim down the sides so when the quarters are hung you can’t see thru to the frame. Correction on my previous post I modified the gas tank hangers and cut them off in the rear that way I could get the tailgate mounted pretty much flush with the rear frame and get the quarters I bit more forward . The reason I cut the rear of the cab lip was to get the rear header of the box to sit flat on the frame . Hope it make I little sense. Rob

This makes a lot of sense to me! That narrow aluminum piece of aluminum has been given me fits....tryin to make it fit flat.

If you keep the spacing between the cab abd the bed a little wider you do not need to cut off the gas tank hangers. I put the bed sides on and space them back about 7/8 of an inch from the cab corner.

Thanks Rob.
I feel a lot better now.As a new builder I keep questioning some of my instincts. Next challenge is how to route the wiring harnesses through the trans. tunnel.
Live and learn:)
