Hi all,

Today I started (or at least tried to) to mount the rear axle on my MKII. The thing is that the upper control arm is not fitting inside the chasis mount. I changed the bushing from the original ones (I bought Summit Racing SUM-790001 Summit Racing Replacement Rear Control Arm Bushings).

It seems that the bushings get to far out of the control arm, interfering with the chasis mount. See picture for ref.

Do you have any suggestion? I was thinking of grinding the control arm, to reduce it's width but that would make me get to the welding and doesn't seem like a good idea.

Thanks.
Ernesto.

You may have to just widen the mount point with a piece of threaded rod, 2 flat washers and 2 nuts. Reply if that doesn't make sense and I can attach a photo of one.

Use a crescent wrench to pull the tab open more and then grease the bushings up also.
Sometimes connecting them to the frame first then the rear helps them go on easier.
