Anyone have a preferred service to ship an FE 427 from Beloit, OH, 44609 to Port Charlotte, FL, 33981. It’s 440 lbs and is 4’ x 4’ x 4’?

Thanks,

Henry

When my crate engine was shipped from Mike Forte it arrived via NEMF (New England Motor Freight). I thought they were only in the northeast. Apparently not. Worth a shot...

If the shipping crate is well made, I take the view that "freight is freight." I have had good luck around here with ABF Freight Systems as well as FedEx Freight.

Here's a tip if you don't use freight services regularly. I have found that I save a pretty substantial amount if I pick it up at their local depot, instead of having them deliver to my door -- it saves me at least $100/shipment. I have forks on my tractor, so it's pretty easy to get a pallet out of the back of the truck. If you have a cherry-picker and a trailer, you could probably get it done that way, too.

Cheers, John

EDIT -- sorry, just saw that this post was ten days old, oops! Engine may have arrived by now!

Henry:

You might try R and L Carriers located along I71 west of Wilmington, OH.

Years ago our club used them for an engine shipment.

See you in June.
