Hi everyone.
Waiting for my Mk4 roadster, due first part of November. The last one I built was back in 2002 and have always regretted selling it.
I picked up an 89 Mustang LX for some of the major parts and trying to get everything ready for when I get my kit.
I have decided to swap the EFI over to a carb. I am looking for opinions on which distributor I can use. I want something that’s not too expensive. One that is short and is HEI or some type of ready to run using the stock coil on the donor. I am using a Speedmaster low-rise intake with a Summit 600cfm carburetor.
If you have a part number or link to item that would be great.
Thank you in advance.

I have a 5.0 with a Holley 600cfm. Using a Pertronix D130710. Wanted to stay more "period correct" than the HEI version.

I went with a stock 1985 fox 5.0 distributor. That year comes with vac advance and electronic pickups. I then wired in a GM HEI mode to control a Ford ECore coil. The HEI is actually in the cabin under the dash. One of the main reasons I did this is because of how inexpensive and plentiful GM HEI modules are. Which turned out to be a good thing, because I went through three cheap ones before breaking down to buy a decent quality one.

If you want dead simple, you could consider a pertronics distributor. Comes with a built-in proprietary HEI module, and will fire an ecore coil. Clean and Simple.

Oh yeah, the other reason I went with the ford distributor is, I like the look of the fat cap. Not sure exactly why but I do. Lol
