So, anyone add the ford racing intake manifold to a gen 3 coyote? I realize these cars don't really need anymore power, just like the look. The 20, and 25'th anniversary cars have them, just haven't seen one in a build thread yet. I realize the 25th anniversary is an aluminator.

I hope I'm as anxious to work on my kit when I get it as I have been the past six months.

Thanks

you can add the Ford Racing "BOSS" intake - but the gen3 intake is quite admirable in performance - sadly its a pretty ugly setup with the valve covers so you'll still have this issue
it's not particular to the 20th or 25th anniv cars by any means, the aluminator is a different setup than the standard coyote - check out the coyote forum, there's a good amount of info there as well

Thank you, there's a ton of information in that link. I was referring to the anniversary builds ff did.

agree with toadster the gen3 intake from the mustang does very well...the cobrajet intake does a touch better at very high rpm but sacrifices at lower...I kept the gen3 stock mustang intake on mine. Video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DO8N-wRcVPk&ab_channel=VMPPerformance) from VPM testing all the intakes . Also went with a Gen2 cover on mine (some cutting required)

Mine is a Gen 1. Put the BOSS on for looks even though it the least efficient of the performance manifold's. Did not like the plastic cover. Car is traction limited with any COYOTE regardless of the setup. One side benefit was pulling some torque out of the low end & moving the power further up the curve. Found its easier to manage off the line.

To me the only better look are dual quads.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Did you have to do a tune?

Thank you

I investigated this and there was dyno testing done, don't recall where, but basically as others have said the Gen 3 intake is REALLY good with little benefit of swapping. Other than it being ugly AF. You absolutely will need a tune unless you are using the airbox that comes with the Ford Controls pack.

Agreed you will need a tune without the stock airbox and also without the stock intake. Also to delete the CMCV function since that's not part of the Boss intake either. Hopefully you have some instructions or can figure stuff out. I suspect there are other changes as well. Wiring, vacuum, etc. I say that only because I've seen instructions for putting a Gen 3 intake on previous generations Coyotes. It's not just plug and play.

Strictly my own opinion, but putting the now quite old Boss intake on a Gen 3 Coyote is sure taking a step backwards in performance. A lot has improved since then. Kind of a shame to take out performance only for appearance purposes. Agreed that with the amount of power the Gen 3 puts out, most builds are traction limited. But you're still taking out some lower power grunt that affects every day driving. I'd sure look at other ways to improve the cosmetics. But that's me... And I did...

I've read that article, and everything I can get my paws on. I have allot to learn.
