View Full Version : Oil Filter relocation kit elimination
If a person wanted to remove the FFR oil filter relocation kit, where would you reposition the oil pressure sensor that is currently in the one part? Ford 302
Thanks

Such person could put the oil pressure sensor in the port that is lower and left of the water pump housing with this adapter:

Will the extension work for the oil temp sensor. I believe it’s the temp sensor not the pressure sensor that is plumbed into the relocation adapter

Your first post said oil pressure. That is what the extension is for. Most aftermarket oil pans have a bung for installing a temp sensor directly into the reservoir holding the oil. That is where I have mine.

I have my pressure sender directly in the block just next to where a mechanical fuel pump would go. If using the extension, I'm not sure if it's the best place for a temp sender as there may be limited flow of actual oil to the sender. In the oil pan would be a more logical location for the temp sender.

The oil pressure sender is on the block, not the filter relocation kit. That would be the temperature sender.

Bingo. Having the temp sender in that extension doesn't work well at all.
Yes…..my bad. It is the temp sensor. The oil pan does not have a bung for a sensor. Is there another location that works?

I'm in a similar situation, my pan also does not have a bung.
If you aren't up for cutting a bung yourself, you could try to get a multipurpose plug for the primary aperture that will accommodate the temp gauge (depending where the drain hole is located that may or may not be a viable option). Other option is just to get a spacer plate to position between the filter and the block that has the necessary aperture.

I live in Las Vegas and do drive my car sometimes when the temps are 110. I have seen my oil temp get up to 180 degrees just a handful of times. The oil temp is more related to higher rpm driving. My temp usually runs between 140-160. I do have a 8 qt oil pan which acts as a huge heat sink. IMHO, unless you are on the track with sustained high RPM operation, the oil temp gauge is not necessary. You will get more use out of a clock in the position where the temp gauge goes. If you really really want the oil temp gauge to be functional, a sandwich adapter between the block and oil filter might be your best option.
