This past week I had the opportunity to take the Mk4 on a great drive. The car now has 1,500 miles on it, and I have put 1,000 miles on the car in one month. I have loved every mile.

Last week we were on vacation in Moab, UT, about 2.5 hours from my house. We had to go back for my daughter's gymnastics one day and the next day I had to drive back to pick my parents up from the airport. Long story short, I was able to drive the Mk4 on a great round trip drive from my house, to Moab, UT, then back home. I did a large loop that allowed me to see different scenery and enjoy different roads.

Driving from my house to Moab, UT, I took the southern route which went south of the La Sal mountains. There were some windy, mountain (and desert) highways that had almost no traffic. One section was full of 15 mph turns and the speed limit was 35-45 mph depending on the section. I dropped the car into 2nd gear and was amazed at how well the car handled through the turn.

The next morning I drove back home, but this time I went north to I-70. I always drive up along the Colorado River when heading out from Moab because the scenery is amazing. The roads weren't as twisty, but being in the red rock canyons with the top off was amazing. It was a great trip and I enjoyed every minute of it.

(ignore the lack of the rear over-riders, I haven't gotten around to installing them because I'm too busy driving the car!)

Thanks for the pictures. It makes me think someone should start a never ending thread with just road-trip photos.

I spent three days last September with some other Cobra guys in SW Colorado area not far from that. Going to do central west and NW Colorado this year. Anyone is welcome to join.

I really need to take more photos! I'm out driving all the time through the hills of NH.

Utah has some amazing scenery! We've visited Lake Powell a number of times, coming in from either Phoenix, Las Vegas, or Moab. Of course, none of these have been in the roadster, but what can I say! One memorable trip was up from Kayenta, through Monument Valley and by Mexican Hat. I can't recall the specific road, but it started near Mexican Hat and went to Halls Crossing/Bullfrog. That was memorable as it looks like you're driving straight at a cliff and then all of a sudden you're at a switchback going up the face of that cliff. Going up was easy; it scared the daylights out of the family coming back down. I bet that would be a fun trip in a roadster!

We're headed that way later this summer. Judging by the current state of the Colorado river basin, this might be our last opportunity for Lake Powell. I know Halls Crossing is gone; I'm not even sure Bullfrog is there anymore. (Our launch point will be Page, AZ)

We were there for Jeep Safari. I am part of the Red Rock 4 Wheelers and was a trail leader for 1 trail and helped on another trail. We were there 10 days, but I had to head back home one evening and the next morning, so I also did the drive in my car!

Sorry, I didn't actually get any good pictures of my Jeep off road, but I did get these:

I recognize those roads! I actually bought some land about 15 minutes away from your picture at the Bear Creek Trailhead! I live in western Colorado south of Grand Junction. I can't wait to drive my car across those mountain passes. It has been too cold recently at 11,000 ft for my summer tires, so I haven't done them yet. But the days are warm enough now I can do it on my next days off.

Do you know when you are going to do central west and north west Colorado this year? I would love to join you. PM me with some information and I'll see if I can get those days off from work.

We were out in Monument Valley last fall and did those drives in our SUV. Stunning.

So true about the Colorado River Basin and Lake Powell...

That would be great if you could make it. We will be staying in Grand Junction Aug 27 through the 31st. I do want to do at least one drive south to Gateway, CO, but the rest will likely be north of I-70. Last year we stayed in Durango and did the million dollar highway, the Great Sand Dunes, etc.

Anyone else interested let me or Terry Martin (TMartinLVNV (https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?33080-Terry-in-Las-Vegas-Build-Did-someone-say-F4U-Corsair&highlight=Las+vegas)) know, so far we have four FFR Cobras +…

I will let you know if I can make it. I am on night shifts with my last night shift on Aug 26th so I would be in no state to drive on the 27th, but I'm sure I will join you at least one day since I live near Grand Junction.

I know, right? I'm amazed at how good it looks even with the parting lines. Honestly, the gel coat red has really grown on me, especially with the red rocks in the background!

I love the area where I live. I can head west and be in the red rocks, head south or east and be in the Colorado mountains. The million dollar highway is only an hour south of me. It is phenomenal.
