Just got my vanity plates that I ordered about 5 months ago. I wanted and thought I ordered WRX(space)DNA.

To order on-line, you fill in the boxes with the letters/numbers you want. Instructions indicate to use a "/" for a half space. No specific instructions on how to get a full space, but if you just leave the box blank, on the mockup of your plate they show you, there's a space.
Turns out on DMV form Reg 17, there are instructions to use a "*" to indicate a full space.
Went to the DMV counter and the nice lady told me tuff ****. I nicely asked for the manager and she gave me a number to call. Called, explained what happened and was told it happens often and I'll get the corrected plates in 30-90 days. Suggested including the "*" for a full space in instructions on the web site and got a, "yaa, that should be done" response.
Pro tip: Even though not indicated, use an "*" to get a full space.
