This looks interesting with changes that are indicated as upgrades, I'm always a bit suspect of "enhancements" although these look good. I think a good tuner will be able to take advantage of the 4-circuit design and other new features.

While EFI has many significant advantages in tuning and fuel efficiency there's just something that I don't find fitting for a retro, simple car like a Cobra.

Wow, I may finally be a fan of the 4150 Carb.
Currently I am running an Edelbrock AVS 800.

Not for me. i still like the one gasket carbs. I'm still a fan of the AFB style carbs. never had one i couldn't make work. And remember the Holly 4010 carbs?? THey could have done that (one gasket) insteds of this. here is the summit version of the 4010 it aluminum so it is lighhter than a zinc holley . https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-m08750vs

After looking at the new Edel 4150, I'm 100% convinced that there is no way in heck I'd be able to tune it...Like you, the AFB/AVS style carb simply works and works well.

Also, I had a 4010 back in the day on my 1980 Z/28...I was sad to see it go but am glad Summit now produces once more.

Loved the 4010's back in the day......nice thing for a street use carb is it has a choke.

Neat, but I'm sold on the AVS2 tech so that's what I'm going with.

Sometimes when you complicate things it leads to more complications. I've never be one on the "leading edge" when it comes to things like this without hearing/reading real-world reviews. Until then, I'd pass.

I'm sporting one of their 600cfm models on my 302. It runs great... And yes , vac secondary. I've managed to get it pretty well tuned so far.

The tv show, Engine Masters comparison tested the Summit carb, a Holley 4150 and an Edel carb.,,,,maybe another I do not remember. I do remember the Summit carb, the cheapest, ran the best right out of the box, made comparable hp compared to the Holley and the Edel, was the poorest in performance and not flowing advertised cfm. This was not the new Edel being discussed.

The new Edelbrock 4150 is a Holley based design and the only similarity to the earlier AVS series is that they are both carbs. These are not even available yet, nor priced. Edelbrock does a good job of explaining what they've done on the website and video.

If you are an AVS fan you probably won't like their new 4150 design. If a Holley fan, then you might appreciate the additional tuning capabilities. The 4-circuit design may complicate the tuning but should also allow enhanced tuning if one chooses to do so. The one-piece body & base plate helps as does the taller design. Then there's easily interchangeable boosters, larger float bowls and a modified float design. I view many of these features as benefits.

The goal in this "game" is to build it your way and to meet your expectations.
