I had ordered the autometer gauge set from FFR for my gen 3 coupe. The product delivered included a 120mph speedometer..... hmmm. Seems a bit inadequate for a near-race car doesn't it? This is important to me both for street cred, and for high speed events in which I plan to participate.
165769Waiting to hear from FFR if I can return and exchange or get credit. Autometer does not have anything in a 3 1/8" size in that color scheme that reads higher than 120, and their custom shop is currently closed. Soooooo, I guess I'm in the market for a new set of gauges.
Any ideas? I'm running a gen 3 coyote 5.0 and my gauge cluster has openings for 3 1/8" speedo and tach. I'm not set on any particular colors....
What are y'all using out there with this setup?

Well, the order form doesn't specify what the speedo reads to in the standard set, but if you order the optional GPS gauges, which I believe are Speedhut, the pic provided shows the speedo to be a 180 MPH unit.

The gauges are one of the things I would leave off my order.

You specified the Autometer Platinum gauges which include the 120 speedo. If you had optioned the Autometer UltraLite set or the (Speedhut) GPS set they would have included a 160 speedo. Give FFR a call; perhaps they’ll swap with you for the upgraded option cost.

If you swap gauges you will possibly need a new aluminum gauge panel since they are different sizes.

This is a DAYTONA....no speedometer that reads anything less than 200mph shall be fit for your dashboard! However, I'm sure FFR would be happy to assist in getting you the 160mph or 180mph options, and associated aluminum gauge panel insert.

Or you could source your own gauges in any style or color you want....and get 200 mph range while you're at it. For me, I went digital so there's technically no limit. This was a concern for me with the tach too, because a Coyote that spins to 8,500 rpm would snap the needle in half on any old cheap gauge. Or at least that's what I told myself while justifying the price on a digital instrument panel :)

Try speedhut. Tell FFR to credit your guage cost and spend about $400 more and get the speedhut customs.

OK, thank you everyone - helpful tips. I'm going to try for a credit with FFR. I should have asked more questions when ordering the kit....Will also see if they can provide a new aluminum panel as it looks like the other options probably have different diameters....

You can always cut the holes larger in the dash panel you have.
Also, consider the tach, if you get a replacement speedo that is larger, then the tach you have won't match the speedo size.

Here's a automater Ford logo speedo, 160 MPH and it is a 3-1/8" as well...

That's what Shelby said, but his 289 FIA cars, as well as the Daytona's, all ended up with speedometers in them.

I stand corrected. I raced IMSA and Nascar in the 80's and 90's.
