I currently have the BP347 with the March front accessory package. My power steering pump seems to be starting to loose pressure and I was wondering what kind of pump March uses? Is it a Mustang pump? And what year if anyone knows this tidbit of info I would appreciate it. It has the plastic reservoir on it. Thanks G

Assuming it's a Ford CII style pump, something like this should work:

Looks like you can also get it directly from March:

Didn't you previously have a problem with the aluminum pully spinning on the pump shaft at high RPM? Deja Vu?
Jeff Kleiner stated at the time that he had "hundreds" of AX competitions on his Mustang power steering.

If it is the pully you may need to go to the OEM steel part. Maybe green Loctite (680) retaining compound with the aluminum pulley?

I remember your earlier post but don’t recall if we determined whether it is a Ford or Saginaw pump. As Craig said, show us a pic.

OK, I'm going to be that guy, again. You have a March assembly? Then why not ask March what they provide, or look up the specs on their site?

Just to be clear; March doesn’t provide pumps, only brackets and pulleys. As I mentioned it could be either Ford or Saginaw. Ford uses a plastic reservoir and Saginaw has a sheet metal can.

It looks like the Ford pump as it has a plastic reservoir. I did have the pulley issue early on, but March sent a new pulley and it pressed on nice and tight, so that issue was resolved. What I'm dealing with now is when the pump is cold, and in cold weather, it has almost no assist. Warmed up it's fine. I guess I will have to put a gauge in line and see what the pressure is. Go up and look at the warranty on the Rock Auto pump. These guys are confident in their pumps. 100 years or 1,000,000 miles. Dam!!!

This is the one I used with my March pulley set.

We used the same setup for my friends Mk4. These are valved for lower pressure for the mustang rack.

Here is how I plumbed mine. Kept it clean and simple. Works Great!

BTW, it looks a little shiny by one of the fillings. That is not a leak, just residual from the installation.

Testing line pressure seems like a challenge. It would be interesting to test the high pressure and return line at the same time.
That would determine if you make enough pressure cold, or is it by-passing to the return line (pressure relief)? We can assume you are using power steering fluid which is thin.

This sounds like an oil viscosity problem. What are you using for PS fluid?

You would think its a viscosity issue, being that way cold and getting better hot. I am actually using Ford Mercon V Power steering fluid. I have a power steering flow tester and gauge at work I will bring home and test flow and pressure and determine if the pump is putting out enough pressure and flow then test for bypassing in the rack. I actually just wanted to know if it was a pump from a Mustang, (which it looks like from pictures on Rock Auto) and what year they use it. From what they show they use that pump a lot of years.

CDXX, very nice looking clean setup you have there. I love that frame color. Makes the engine bay look much brighter. I wish I had gone with a color like that instead of satan black.

...when the pump is cold, and in cold weather, it has almost no assist. Warmed up it's fine...

Could also be the rack. "Morning sickness" was a common malady for 80s-era GMs:

Wait a minute... One frame is black one frame is silver. Looks like a switcheroo!

Morning sickness! Well that explains a lot, I know she's a trashy little tramp, but I didn't know she was pregnant. Who's your daddy!!!

The black frame is my buddys mk4. The silver one is mine. His front view was a better photo for an overall setup picture.

Either way they both look good

Do I see sealant? Aren't those O-ring fittings at the rack?
Just curious.

If that is sealant on the power steering rack, what is it? I've used multiple fittings and sealants and mine still has a slow seep.

No sealant. Just squished o-rings. I thought I screwed them up when I saw the picture but they have not leaked at all.

Came with the fittings. www.summitracing.com/parts/agr-910800
