Want to know how other builders handled this task. Are the 2 factory locations enough? Tape size for machine screws? Over sized body holes for adjustment?

I've got three 1/4" stainless Allen screws on each side with rivet nuts are mounted in the frame.
The holes in the body are only 5/16" and used a stainless fender washer to spread the load.
Just don't start drilling unless you are 100% sure you are happy with the body location.
Good Luck & Happy Body Mounting!

I drill and tap 1/4-20 in 2 spots on each side. Close to where FFR secured it. I then slot the body for movement in and out.

Mike has built 200 at least more cars than I have so any advice he gives you is spot on.

Slotted holes. I use #14 self tappers for fitting then when the body goes on for the final time and is fully adjusted I lock it down with large head 3/16 exploding rivets.

Mike or Jeff,
Do you have pictures of these slotted holes? How wide is the slotted hole?
Thx
Jay

Not something that I ordinarily take a photo of but I jumped into the Wayback Machine and retrieved this photo from the build thread of a Mk4 I did 10 years ago:

Thanks Jeff!
So, slotting it will prevent the body and paint from possibly cracking due to temperature related expansion and shrinkage?
Learning new things everyday.

No. It’s simply for ease of adjustment during mock up.
