Has anyone else received a MK IV kit with a Taiwan windshield with only 2 of the 8 needed screws to mount the side rails to the frame? I thought this was a mistake and called FFR. They told me, nope that's the way the kits are received from China. Where can I get the missing screws?

I'd question that response. Something missing in the translation... I've had a number of those windshields and they always came with all the needed screws. The are sometimes buried in the foam packing (pushed in) and easy to miss. Normal to only receive two of eight? No.

Just a suggestion - I would order the Whitby stainless steel strips that replace the brass strips that come in the FFR windshields, and not worry about the missing screws that go into the brass strips. The Whitby SS strips will come with the required 10-32 screws (some of which will be too short and you'll need to source longer ones). These are different than the 10-24 screws that are supposed to be used in the brass strips.

Over 150 cobras have come through my shop and none were missing screws. Call FFR back and ask again.

OK , for me it’s dozens of cars not hundreds but I’ve always gotten all of the screws. Like edwardb said they sometimes get buried in the styrofoam. If not just take what you have to a well stocked hardware store and match them. FWIW, in all the cars I’ve done Ibgagevnever had a screw strip in the brass insert…lucky I guess ;)

Mr Kleiner it’s obviously much more experienced than the rest of us grease monkeys. I would’ve stripped at least a dozen brass inserts had I not sprung for the SS ones

Same here, never have had one strip. The only way to strip one is to not pay attention to starting them straight.
