View Full Version : Hydraulic Clutch vs Clutch Cable. What are the build differences? (if any)

Starting my build up again soon after taking a break during winter. Left off on the pedal box build. Couple questions that have left me a bit confused about the hydraulic clutch.

1. Does the hydraulic clutch still need a clutch quadrant stop ? I'm pretty sure I haven't received this part and have seen it mentioned in the manual, so I'm just wondering if this is a mistake on my end and the hydraulic clutch doesn't need a clutch quadrant stop or a mistake on FFR's end and I need to get this part.

Also in case 'im not using the correct name for the part, I'll put an image of the part below

For hydraulic clutch the clutch quadrant goes away and replaced with a master cylinder and hydraulic line to the transmission. hth

^^^^What he said. You should not have that part in your kit if you're using a hydraulic clutch.

Just to be 100% clear (or maybe just Mr. Obvious...) that exploded diagram you posted is not used with a hydraulic clutch. That assembly is intended to modify the Wilwood pedal box which is already set up for hydraulic (e.g. it has the master cylinder mounting and actuation) to allow the use of a clutch cable. So put those parts in your "not used" box. You may need a clutch stop on the actual pedal. That's somewhat common for a hydraulic clutch. But that doesn't come in the kit. Also, BTW, as I understand the Factory Five hydraulic clutch kit is intended for an internal hydraulic throw-out bearing as opposed to an external slave cylinder setup. Another decision for you make. :o

I ordered my kit with the hydraulic clutch and the clutch quadrant still came with the kit. After some head scratching and a search of the forum I realized that this is just another part to add to the unused parts box.
