I just started building my FFR Coupe 65. Was moving along pretty well until I got past the easy bolt on stuff. I'm having a bit of a problem understand the assembly manual in some areas. Looks like some of the components have actually changed since the manual was published. Anyway, looking to see if there are any builders in the North Texas area (Ft. Worth) that I can reach out to for guidance and help from time to time. Id love to find someone that already plowed the ground that Im struggling with. Thanks.

Not in North Texas (obviously...) but happy to help if I can. PM and pictures work great. I'm fielding build questions almost daily. Have lots of details and pictures from my Gen 3 Coupe build.

Some of the pics in the manual (or guide actually) I've seen, are from earlier versions of the Type 65.
Look at them just as representations, not gospel.
You have to use some imagination to interpret what's there.

Thank you for the reply. I will surely be in touch. Right now, I'm working on the accelerator pedal installation. I think I will get it, but the description of the installation is anything but clear. When emailing FFR, my response is that it customized for each individual so the manual is intentionally vague. Well, it is way more vague that I am comfortable. However, from other pictures on the forum and a bit on youtube, I think I about have it. I guess in the long run, figuring these things out is more educational than just following directions. But for someone impatient like me, its very frustrating. Thanks for the offer, I will be in contact.

Do a "Google" search for help, check some of the build sites here and post here for help. Someone here has the answer. Building a car is not like putting Ikia furniture together because they are all different.
Part of the fun is fuguring out how to build it. Like I have said before, anyone can write a cheque and buy a car but it takes a special type to build one.

Hey JimV. Not in north TX but in Central TX. Just east of Austin. I'm in the finishing phases of my build now. My S/N is 169 and was delivered back in the summer of 2019. There is a ton of info on this site but you can always hit me up as well for Questions. Doug

Jim,

I am down in Sugar Land, TX and just got my Type 65 kit the end of January. I've gotten started and my Build thread is titled under FracAG1980. I'd be happy to share anything I do, but I am a novice at this and trying to find my own way through it all. I have the front suspension done to the point of putting on the spindles (missing a couple of parts). I've put the steering rack on and loosely the steering system. I have the passenger side footbox in place. While waiting on a few parts I am going to switch over to doing some body work and get the back half ready for sanding and filling. I had an issue getting the upper steering shaft to fit through the guide and was told to polish it with an abrasive cloth, which worked and now it slides right through. Thanks to this forum for helping me out with that. Lots of help on here.

Best of luck with your build and if there is anything I can do, you can always try me too.

Steve (FracAG1980)

@freds We're almost neighbors, I'm just north of Porter, back in the woods.
I might take you up on the viewing offer one of these days.
Do you know that every Friday night when it isn't raining or something worse, they have a get together in the Kroger parking lot in New Caney?
Usually quite a few pretty slick cars show up.
Bring your car out there one Friday and let me and everyone know, and you may have a few viewers all at the same time!

Yup, went up to New Caney Kroger and the lot was pretty full of nice cars tonight, got my first up close look at a C8 Vette.
Couldn't stay long, have to get up at 4 am to go to work.

Did you ever solve the pedal location? Can you post a picture? Also, what did you do with the throttle cable? Did you have to drill a hole in the fire wall?

Hello from Lubbock,

First time ever posting on the FFR forum, hopefully I’m doing this correctly. Extremely interested in building a Type 65 Coupe.

My wife and I are going to be in DFW the weekend of January 24th. Would love to connect with folks in the area while there if possible who have a Type 65 Coupe. Completed or project in the works.

Thank you!
